Terms & conditions
How therapy with me works in practice. We'll go through these together before we start, and you can ask about anything at any time.
Last updated 30 October 2026
These terms explain how therapy with Ben White Therapy works. We will go through them together at the start of our work, and you are welcome to ask questions at any time. A written therapy agreement is provided before the first session.
Who I work with
I offer individual integrative counselling for adults aged 18 and over, in person in Hackney, Peckham and East Dulwich, and online by secure video within the UK. I do not offer couples therapy, work with under‑18s, or crisis support.
Fees and payment
Sessions cost £80 for 50 minutes. The initial 20‑minute intro call is free. Payment is by bank transfer before or on the day of each session. Fees are reviewed periodically, and I will always give at least one month's notice of any change.
Cancellations and missed sessions
Please give at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or move a session. Sessions cancelled with less notice, or missed, are charged in full, as the time has been reserved for you. If I need to cancel, I will give as much notice as possible and you will not be charged.
Confidentiality
What you share in sessions is confidential, within the limits of the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and the law. I may need to share information without your consent if I believe you or someone else is at serious risk of harm, or if required by law (for example, in relation to terrorism, money laundering or a court order). Where possible I will discuss this with you first. I discuss my work anonymously in regular clinical supervision, which is a requirement of my accreditation.
Contact between sessions
Contact between sessions is for practical matters such as arranging or changing appointments. I aim to reply within two working days. I am not able to provide support between sessions or in an emergency. If you are in crisis, call 999, contact your GP or NHS 111, or call the Samaritans free on 116 123.
Online sessions
For online sessions, please join from a private, quiet space where you won't be overheard, using a stable internet connection. Sessions are not recorded by either party.
Ending therapy
You can end therapy at any time. Where possible, it helps to have a final session to reflect on the work. I review our work with you regularly, and if I feel another service would better meet your needs, I will discuss this with you openly.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with any aspect of our work, please raise it with me directly so we can try to resolve it. If that isn't possible, you can contact the BACP, whose Professional Conduct Procedure applies to all members. My BACP membership number is 401198.
