Trauma therapy that goes at your pace

Memories that still feel present. Feeling on edge, numb or easily overwhelmed. Avoiding people, places or conversations that bring it back. Trauma can shape how safe the world feels long after the event.

Understanding trauma

What it can feel like

Trauma can follow a single event, such as an accident or assault, or build up over time through experiences like neglect, bullying or difficult relationships. There is no threshold for what “counts”. What matters is the effect it is having on you now.

Common responses include flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, irritability, shame and avoiding reminders. These are understandable reactions to overwhelming experiences, not signs of weakness.

You might notice
  • Flashbacks
  • Nightmares
  • Feeling on edge
  • Avoiding reminders
  • Numbness
  • Shame or guilt
  • Startling easily
  • Difficulty trusting

You don’t need a diagnosis, or to have it all worked out, to start.

How therapy helps

Calm, collaborative and evidence‑based

Trauma‑focused CBT offers a structured way of processing memories that still feel present, so they can become memories of the past rather than something you keep reliving. You will never be asked to go into detail before you are ready.

We start by building safety and stability, and you stay in control of what we talk about and when. Calm, collaborative and paced work matters especially here.

You don’t have to explain what happened in the intro call. Just let me know a little about how you’re feeling now.
